ABSTRACT
Young people grow and develop in a social world that contributes to the development of their learning and thinking. From the time of birth, children are surrounded by and interact with other people including parents, siblings and other family members. As they grow older and their social world expands, children and young people encounter other adults and children in a variety of different contexts in homes, schools and in the community.
