ABSTRACT
This chapter analyses a key problem for international law and human rights, already sketched in the preceding chapters. This is the prevailing ideological foundation for human rights discourse namely liberalism, and especially methodological individualism. The emergent powers materialism to which I referred in my Introduction requires that groups, and group rights, be given appropriate recognition.
