ABSTRACT

Russia on the one hand, and Latvia on the other, being strongly desirous of bringing to an end the present state of war between them, and of bringing about a final settlement of all the questions arising from the former subjection of Latvia to Russia, have decided to commence negotiations for peace and to conclude as soon as possible a lasting, honourable and just peace . . . and have agreed on the following terms:

Article I. The state of war between the Contracting Parties shall cease from the date of the coming into force of the present Treaty.
