ABSTRACT
At the apex of the court system in most of the jurisdictions in the Commonwealth Caribbean lies the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council (the Privy Council), which presently serves as the final Court of Appeal for all of the countries of the region, with the exception of the Republic of Guyana and Barbados.1 The Privy Council is based in Britain and became established as the final court for the respective countries during colonialism.
