ABSTRACT
My topic is the character of Shakespeare’s Cleopatra-or Shakespeare’s Cleopatra as a character. By “character” here, we might mean dramatic character, or ethical character, or moral character. In the case of Cleopatra in particular but also of character in general, this is a daunting and perhaps even an impossible task.
