ABSTRACT

As one of the potential measures to mitigate the urban heat island effect, the utilization of plants for roof and sky-rise gardens has gained popularity around the world. In Singapore, the continuous effort to make the country a ‘garden city’ has already resulted in lush greenery throughout the island. It is necessary to demonstrate the thermal benefits of rooftop gardens in the tropics with tangible data. This is the primary reason why measurements and calculations were carried out locally.
