Figure 8.1 represents two trays, A and B, each of which contains mixtures of red jelly beans and white jelly beans spread out in a single layer (no jelly bean is hidden). Imagine you are to be blindfolded and offered a reward of £100 if you can blindly pick a red bean from one of the trays. On the basis of your gut feeling, which tray would you choose to select from – the small Tray A, or the large Tray B?
