ABSTRACT

Intuition is of immense practical significance. We rely upon intuitions to interpret and judge people and situations, take decisions that inform immediate behaviours, and make predictions which guide future actions. If we stop and think, a moment’s introspection may reveal that our pasts, presents and futures are, to varying degrees, the products of our intuitions. Our lives are the arenas in which, for better or worse, our intuitions are played out. In our occupations we are, of habit and necessity, ‘intuitive practitioners’.1
