ABSTRACT
The earliest evidence for the story of Andromeda and the ke¯tos or sea-monster is a Corinthian black-figure amphora of ca. 575-50 bc (LIMC Andromeda I no. 1 = Fig. 4.1), subsequent by a good century to the earliest traces of the Medusa episode.
