“Suppose you were an idiot,” Mark Twain once said. “And suppose you were a congressman. But I repeat myself.” Twain also remarked that “there is no distinctly American criminal class except Congress.” With his cynical humor about “politicians,” Twain spoke for many citizens everywhere.
