ABSTRACT
The devil appears in the Qur’an as either Iblis or al-shaytan (“the satan”). The Qur’an describes the devil’s revolt against God in four sorts of dialogue between God and Iblis (7:12-19, 15:31-40, 17:61-65, 38:71-85). One of the views that emerges is that the devil will be very successful in trying to get human beings to go awry.
