ABSTRACT
Consultation is an opportunity to change some of the daily situations and strategies that get in the way of pupils’ learning and their commitment to learning. A teacher comments on their ‘generous’ attitude to improving what happens in the classroom:
There was one student making a point about teaching and learning who just said, when asked about her involvement, ‘It’s something we think needs improving, and it interests us. It’s something we already know a lot about. Some people aren’t learning and we can help.’ They feel they have something to contribute, they feel they can actually make a difference, and they want to make a difference.
