ABSTRACT
In this chapter we discuss the reasons for having a gifted and talented policy for your department and how you might develop one. However, a policy that has no context is meaningless, so the chapter also discusses the importance of the process of policy formation, its relationship to whole-school policies as well as your general departmental policy, and the resulting implications for development and action plans.
