ABSTRACT
The issues relating to the trade and environment linkage are very complex and evolve in a dynamic manner involving various states and other actors in the process. The linkage has assumed and will continue to assume paramount significance in international trade negotiations, and is often plagued by arguments that ultimately relate to conflicting interests related to the North-South divide. These issues are even more topical today than in the past.
