ABSTRACT

Teachers are very optimistic about the learning that their pupils achieve as a result of their museum visits, but what do the pupils themselves think? Pupils may feel enjoyment and inspiration following their museum experience, but what does that achieve? Is there any relationship between this and other learning outcomes? What did the research tell us about the outcomes of learning experiences in museums? Are there strong interrelationships between the GLOs? And can any specific characteristics of museum-based learning be identified?
