ABSTRACT

Factors of the dynamic model operating at the student and classroom levels were presented in the previous chapter. This chapter will describe the dynamic model at the school and context levels. We shall show how our measurement framework is used to define each school-and context-level factor of the proposed dynamic model. Some evidence supporting the importance of each factor will also be provided. More information regarding the importance of effectiveness factors will be provided in Part III of the book. Specifically, Chapter 9 will refer to the results of a meta-analysis of studies searching for school-level factors that have been conducted during the past two decades. The results of this analysis provide further justification for the importance to be accorded to the factors in the dynamic model that operate at the school level. Finally, the importance of searching for interactions among factors operating at the same level will be discussed.
