ABSTRACT

Communication may not need to be at the heart of the design process,

but in most cases, it is an essential element that allows design teams to

work together or that eventually transforms concepts into reality. The

role of effective communication in the technical aspects of architecture,

however, cannot be overemphasised. Unless the individual designer

aims to conceive an entire scheme, produce the construction informa-

tion and eventually construct the final product alone, communication of

ideas in some formwill be required between one individual and another.

It is the dynamic process of sharing information through different forms

of technical language in all its many forms that this section aims to

explore. Refer also to the discussion of the theory of communication in

Volume 1 of this series.
