ABSTRACT
When finally getting down to making decisions on the choice of materi-
als, there are two ways in which these decisions can be made. Firstly,
there is identification of the function that the material will have to
provide and secondly there is the property that the material requires to
fulfil this function. Both choices are valid and appropriate for different
situations.
