ABSTRACT
Natural petroleum is a hydrogen-carbon compound made of a mixture of highly reduced hydrocarbon molecules mostly found in the liquid phase.1 Hydrocarbons are traditionally believed to have a spontaneous genesis: biological detritus are transformed into hydrocarbon molecules through a process of decomposition in condition of high pressure.
