ABSTRACT
Some key considerations of risk and uncertainty have been briefly laid out in Chapter 1. The purpose of this chapter is now to provide a more detailed treatment which focuses on our interest in high-technology firms, and on the venture capitalists and entrepreneurs that back and run them, respectively.
