ABSTRACT

This part of the book (Part IV, Case Study Analysis) is concerned with enriching the empirical content of the book, by providing detailed illustration of numerous actual investment processes, using the common framework adopted earlier (e.g. in Chapters 4-6). The approach is different, but the evidence base is the same. Here, in Chapter 7, we introduce the data gathered by interviews with the directors, sometimes chief financial officers, of five high-technology companies. It is these directors we are identifying as entrepreneurs. In writing the cases, we have aimed to provide illustrative case studies of risk handling in practice (compare Yin, 1993).
