ABSTRACT

All of us tend to leap, without effort, from perception to interpretation and sensemaking. These leaps help us shape the chaos that surrounds us into recognizable patterns and comprehensible events; without the leaps, we would be unable to function. But, to become skilled in moral reasoning, we first have to become aware of how we reason, that is, of how we take in data from the world around us and draw conclusions about what we see, understand, and believe. Trifles, a tiny play – only eleven pages long – will help us with this process.
