ABSTRACT
The study of women and gender in Africa in the 21st century cannot escape the realities of post-colonial hegemonic domination of Africa by Europe and North America. This is expressed through the reproduction of colonial-like policies that are supported by international financial institutions and international corporate laws. The patriarchal and racialized ideologies of this new market imperialism are being sustained and reinforced by corporate globalization.
