ABSTRACT

The most important event in the field of Leopold Mozart editions after World War II has been the preparation and the completion of the main corpus of the Neue Mozart Ausgabe, the new complete edition of Mozart’s works, published by Barenreiter-Verlag. Under the auspices of the Mozarteum in Salzburg, the best known Mozart scholars and musicologists joined forces in this monumental undertaking of more than 120 volumes. Among good and recommendable editions are the ones for piano solo works and chamber music with piano by the publisher G. Henle, the Wiener Urtext Edition for the piano sonatas and piano pieces and also the small yellow Eulenburg pocket scores for the piano concertos. Editing the works of a great master composer such as Mozart, conscientiously working musicologists and editors should try to find out his intentions in even the minutest details.
