ABSTRACT

Canada is the second-largest country in the world, after Russia. Its population of roughly thirty-two million people as of October 2004 is comparatively small, but a considerable part of its northwestern land mass is virtually uninhabited. The country shares 8,892 kilometers of natural boundary with the United States. Most of the major Canadian cities, such as Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, and Winnipeg, are very close to the border. As a consequence Canadians have easy access to radio and television from the United States.
