ABSTRACT

Originally, the Silver Drawing Test (SDT) was designed to bypass language disabilities by assessing cognitive skills through drawings. It evolved from a belief that we tend to underestimate the intelligence of children like Charlie, who at age 11 could not hear, speak, lip-read, or read words, but could read a floor plan of the Metropolitan Museum of Art even when it was upside down in my hand, and he led the way when our art class visited the museum. He showed extraordinary skill in drawing.
