ABSTRACT

Further classes and training will be useful, and may well be necessary. There is no one recognized way of becoming an actor, and there are always actors who seem to be exceptions to whatever rules are suggested. The Director Says: Those teachers who specialize in subjects such as voice production, fights, and mime, usually need to have appropriate qualifications, and they know exactly what it is they need to tell their students. For teachers of acting, it is often not quite the same. This does not mean that there are not excellent teachers of acting or some wonderful actors working as teachers but that the craft of acting is not so easily measured as the crafts of voice and movement. At the moment there seems to be little opportunity to learn screen-acting skills at most training establishments, even though this is probably going to be the main income for the actor.
