ABSTRACT

A photographic session can be a hazardous, sometimes terrifying, experience. Some people approach it with dread; some with relish. First is height: however tall we are, our photograph should reflect it, not try to hide it or tell a different story. After all, when we walk into the interview, the director will want to see an image as close to the photograph as possible. Everyone accepts that hairstyles and color can change, men's facial hair can vary, and clothes tell their own story, but height will never change. When we look through an actor's directory, it is very noticeable that photographs have been glamorized and touched up or that the actors have used photos that are from a long time ago. The Director Says: I was looking for an actor to play a dying man, and the gaunt photograph led me to send for a particular actor.
