“As guardians of our children, we must give them the opportunity to absorb, and then experience, the beauty of the English language. We can do this by reading to them, religiously, while they are infants. We cannot wait for our children to get beyond the infant stage, and then, try to motivate them to read. Also, by reducing the hours our children spend watching television, listening to music, and playing computer games, we will be able to get them to read more. My writing career began when I tried my hand at writing poetry while in the second grade.
