ABSTRACT

Pinkney states that he took an interest in drawing at a very early age and then realized that he would rather sit and draw than do almost anything else. He was born in Philadelphia and while growing up in the Germantown section of the city his interest in art was supported by his family, especially his mother who made it clear to everyone that if art was what he wanted to pursue, then that’s what she wanted to happen. His father also became supportive, and when he wanted to take art classes after school his father found a way for him to attend.
