ABSTRACT
“My goal as a writer is to allow our children to examine not only the past but the present as well. By doing this, we allow them to impact the future in a positive and thoughtful manner. I enjoy making a reader think and to perhaps have that moment when everything becomes crystal clear. The power of words astounds me. The beauty of our language encourages me. To be able to write is a gift, but to be able to read is something to be cherished. My years of public service have prepared me to be a writer who understands my people. In fact, it is they who have given me not only the stories but the dialects, allowing me to write authentically.”
