ABSTRACT
Ferguson, who prefers to be called Mr. Amos Ferguson, was born in Exuma, the Bahamas. He was one of fourteen children, and his preacher father, who was also a carpenter, inspired his Bible reading. Ferguson left home as a teenager and moved to Nassau, where he polished furniture, learned to paint houses, and then decided to work as a house painter.
