ABSTRACT
Gender-specifi c motivations for men include: a need to give the wife “something of her own”; a need to help the less fortunate; a need for aff ection; a need to make their wife happy because they feel they are disappointing her in other areas, especially in the bedroom; and a need to be seen as a leader in the community, which can be viewed as a need for dominance among other males.
