ABSTRACT
Th e term home study seems to mean diff erent things to diff erent people. To many of the self-help writers who have written adoption manuals, it is an entitlement that applicants have earned by virtue of having paid taxes. To many adoption applicants it is a mirror image of how they see themselves as prospective parents. To some social workers it is a report that provides a family genealogy of the applicant.
