ABSTRACT
The Journey What is the journey? As shown in Figure 12.1, among the Evhe of Togo we come from the spirit world, to the womb of the mother, to the world of the living, to the womb of the Earth, where we again make the transformation back to the spirit world. If one does not learn the lessons from the physical life during one’s time on Earth, the soul must return to learn the lessons it did not learn in the previous life. One continues this process until one comes to a point where there are no “debts or earthly affinities pulling one back to the world of life.” One then joins the “collectivity of the blessed,” the gods, the immortal (Zannu, unpublished, p. 7).
