ABSTRACT

As the flood waters rose in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina and failed levees, a man and his dog were stranded on the roof of their home. They watched as a rescue boat approached. The rescuers refused to transport the dog and informed him that another rescue boat, one for animals, would soon be arriving. As the water continued to rise; the terrified man boarded the rescue boat and told his dog to sit and stay. He prayed that the rescue boat would come and find his dog soon. He tearfully promised his dog that help was on the way and that they would be reunited.
