ABSTRACT

A university lecture is different from a lesson in a school. The lecturer delivers his information, usually without interruption. Most lectures last for at least 50 minutes and are often quite specialised. The lecturer may move quickly to get through all his information (which will be the result of hours if not years of research!). He may use overhead projector (OHP) or PowerPoint presentations, but lecturers in some subjects such as maths, physics and economics may use a black/white board. Most students fi nd that taking notes is both tiring and diffi cult. For dyslexic students it can be quite hard going as you have to listen, look at visuals and copy down what is often new terminology.
