ABSTRACT
It is not controversial to suggest that even if moral philosophy is a theoretical activity, one which stands back from first-order decisions and attempts to understand them, it might still make a contribution to first-order ethical problems. It is less obvious however how logic and epistemology or the theory of knowledge can be practically relevant in ethics. The first part of this chapter is concerned with at least some of the contributions of logic and the second part with those of epistemology.
