ABSTRACT
One impediment to understanding the nature of morality is a failure to recognize some fairly basic distinctions, and in this chapter I shall review some distinctions that are commonly ignored and some mistakes that are commonly made, with the consequence that quite false conclusions are drawn about various particular moral theories and moral philosophy in general.
