ABSTRACT

Chapter 6 moves its focus from educational managers to teachers. The narratives in this chapter will include the stories of teachers both inside and outside of formal educational institutions. Some of the stories will uncover the contradictory experiences of teachers who are concerned with processes of learning and teaching but who have external pressures that place emphasis on product and outcome. Stories will highlight the realities of working within contemporary educational contexts, which involve crossing institutional and cultural boundaries, addressing multiple and contradictory demands, and reinventing identities to respond to differently located contexts.
