ABSTRACT
This chapter is based upon the view that much behavioral research on gay men and their reaction to the AIDS pandemic is not so much psychologistic as overly individualistic in approach and that this severely limits its utility and prevents us from tackling the most challenging substantive and methodological (and hence policy-relevant) issues. 1
