ABSTRACT
The first report of HIV infection in the Philippines dates back to 1984. Since then, the cumulative number of reported cases has reached 382 HIV positives and eighty-six AIDS cases as of the end of 1992. Health department officials acknowledge that the small number is due to underreporting and that the numbers of HIV infection may range from 5,000 to 35,000.
