ABSTRACT
This chapter highlights a single remarkable text by a virtuoso narrator. The text itself dates from 1969. It was first published in 1993. It concerns the advent of humankind in the cosmos and dwells at length on issues concerning the moral and social order. This chapter continues the reporting strategy used in chapter 2, with somewhat more introductory material and endnotes that are intended to provide an ethnographic context for this entire book. The unusual characteristics of this testimony are discussed in the introduction.
