I know. This is a pretty obvious way that gender enters the culture. It's akin to peer pressure, and it's where many social scientists believe we learn most of our gendered behavior, so there are lots of books and essays avail able that analyze exactly how this transmission of socially acceptable gen dered behavior takes place. I want to focus briefly on the nuts and bolts of how that might have happened to you.
