Botstein tells of Mrs. Hull, the founder and advocate behind the Musicians Emergency Fund of the 1930s and 1940s. She also was a patron of the pianist Rudolf Firkusny and a founder of the New Opera Company of New York, the ancestor of New York City Opera.
