People do not expect to be single at 50. The hope is that at this age, you will reap the benefits of the hard work that has gone into your life, marriage, and family. You look forward to stability, grandchildren, and retirement. This is an example of simplistic myths the culture thrusts on us. It is not that this scenario is bad; it just does not reflect reality for many people.
