ABSTRACT
The simplest and most common way of retuning the guitar is to tune the 6th string to a D note. Now play a D chord. The first thing you will notice is that you can now play the 6th string with your picking hand. Try playing a D chord in standard tuning, and play the open 6th string. To most people, it sounds terrible!
