ABSTRACT

The Percussionists’ Guide to Injury Treatment and Prevention discusses injuries that come about as a result of improper ergonomics (positions, postures, and movements that are most efficient for the body) and biomechanics (ways the body is designed to move) during drumming. It begins by explaining basic human anatomy and biomechanics. The next step discusses basic concepts on how injury occurs (a very important concept in using the remainder of the book). All of this knowledge prepares the reader for the practical use of the remainder of the text. Many photographs and illustrations are used to help the reader understand the text.
