ABSTRACT
The principal aim of this chapter is to analyse some of the ethical problems raised by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s (NATO’s) military action against Serbia in 1999. The main purpose is to discuss moral factors that are an inescapable feature of decisions to wage ‘humanitarian wars’ rather than to debate the specific ethical merits and shortcomings of intervention in the Kosovo case.
