ABSTRACT
The United States is the most anti-youth society on earth. This is not because American youth suffer absolute deprivations worse than youth of other nations (though the United States falls far short of the standards of health care, housing, economic support, and opportunity afforded youth in similarly affluent Western countries). What characterizes America's singular hostility is that youth here are worse off relative to adults than those of any other country for which we have reliable information.
